What is the HILLSIDE REDEMPTION PROJECT?

The Hillside Redemption Project is the body of Hillside Church collecting redeemable bottles and cans and using the proceeds to assist a family in the community with their needs.

How does this work?
Throughout the year we will hold Collection Sundays when you can drop off your bottles and cans here at Hillside. We will redeem them for the cash value and use the funds at the end of the year to assist a needy family in our community.

Why is this going to help?
Together with City Team Ministries, we will provide aid to a family that needs an extra hand in transitioning out of homelessness. The aid will come in a variety of ways such as rent assistance, food & groceries, utilities, or job training. This aid will depend on the needs of the families.

How can I be involved?
Easy! Collect, sort, and bring your glass or plastic bottles and aluminum cans with you to Hillside on the Collection Sundays.

What is California Refund Value? California Refund Value (CRV) is the amount paid by consumers at the checkout stand and paid back to consumers when they recycle eligible aluminum, plastic, glass and bi-metal beverage containers at certified recycling centers. The minimum refund value established for each type of eligible beverage container is 5 cents for each container under 24 ounces and 10 cents for each container 24 ounces or greater.

Helpful Hints:
  1. Look for the logo...CRV. If it has it, we can recycle it.
  2. Do not bring anything to the church on days other day than the scheduled Collection Sundays. If you miss the collection Sunday or have a load of recyclables before the date, call Ian Drury at 408.355.4865, and he will arrange a time to collect your CRV containers.
